Mourinho: I’m a better coach now

first_imgJose Mourinho believes he is better prepared to succeed as Chelsea boss second time around. Press Association Mourinho did well enough in his first stint at Stamford Bridge, including two Premier League titles in his five-trophy haul. However, his confrontational nature did not meet with the approval of the Chelsea hierarchy and in the end, the schism with owner Roman Abramovich became so wide time had to be called on their relationship. center_img Since then though, Mourinho has had a fabulous stint at Inter Milan, steering the Italian giants to an unprecedented treble, as well as three seasons with Real Madrid, where he added another league title to his impressive list of honours. And the early evidence is this is a much calmer version of the Portuguese firebrand who has captivated English audiences since he burst onto the scene with a dance down the Old Trafford touchline in celebration of a famous triumph with Porto almost a decade ago. So, within a matter of hours of touching down in Bangkok at the start of a three-match tour of the Far East, Mourinho was explaining why he feels he has improved. “My job is a job where experience means a lot,” said Mourinho. “I have had two years in Italy and three in Spain. It makes me better coach. I am in better condition than I was last time. “I have some white hairs but in my case that’s a good sign. It means I am better now than before. “But I am still very sad and unhappy when my team doesn’t win, it’s up to the players to help me get the results I want.” last_img read more

Jagdeo calls for Minister Patterson’s brother to be investigated

first_img– Minister promises not to influence the outcome of the caseGiven recent reports that the brother of Public Infrastructure Minister David Patterson was charged in Grenada for trafficking narcotics, Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo has suggested that Government launch an investigation to determine whether he was given certain privileges here.Derrick Patterson at court on Monday (Photo by The New Today)Jagdeo was responding to a question posed to him in relation to whether the brother of the Public Infrastructure Minister should be investigated. It was explained that relatives of Ministers and other top Government officials are usually given special privileges when travelling.“This is what the Government should launch a full investigation into. Since this is a clean Government that does not tolerate drug dealing,” the former Head of State told the local media.Derrick Patterson, the younger brother of Public Infrastructure Minister David Patterson, was arrested by Grenadian Police and arraigned in court on charges of cocaine trafficking.According to reports from The New Today, a Grenadian news agency, Patterson was remanded to Grenada’s Richmond Hill Her Majesty’s Prison after appearing in court before Chief Magistrate Tamara Gill at the St George’s Number One Magistrate’s Court on Monday. It is understood that Patterson was charged with trafficking a controlled drug; a total of 2.325kg of cocaine, with an approximate street value of $232,500, that was found in his possession on May 2.Jagdeo noted that questions about whether the coalition’s campaign for the May 2015 General and Regional Elections was financed by drug money are ones that will have to be answered.“These are the same people who accused the PPP of being in bed with drug dealers, they have it right in their own home…what are they going to say now?” he said in relation to Patterson’s brother’s arrest. While Jagdeo did not call for Patterson’s resignation because of his brother’s actions, he recalled that Rashleigh Jackson, a former Government Minister resigned when his son was busted with drugs. However, he added that there are grounds for a call for his resignation based on his actions at the Public Infrastructure Ministry.Jagdeo also noted too that news of Patterson’s arrest did not come to light locally until weeks after the fact. “This came up almost three weeks after it happened…this incident happened since May 2,” he said.ShockedMeanwhile, Minister Patterson finally broke his silence on the matter on Thursday evening in a post on social media. The Minister said members of his family were shocked to learn of his brother’s arrest.“My mother, my sisters and I are deeply distressed and concerned and are anxious to learn the full details of this unpleasant development,” he stated. He continued, “Our position is that Derrick is a matured adult of 47 years and he must bear full responsibility for the consequences of his actions. Neither I nor any other member of my family can take responsibility for his own, deliberate actions.”Patterson said while his family hold out hope that there may have been a mistake, “he must face the consequences if he is found guilty in a court of law. We have no reason to believe that he will not be treated fairly by the Grenadian legal system.”Further, the Minister said he and his family will give him all the support they legally can, but we will not condone any proven illegal conduct.“As a Minister of Government, I would like to assure the Guyanese public that I have not and will not attempt to influence the outcome of these serious allegations made against my brother in any way whatsoever.”last_img read more

Birth of tiger cubs in Kailadevi points to space crunch in wildlife habitats

first_imgThe birth of two tiger cubs in the Kailadevi Wildlife Sanctuary of Rajasthan’s Karauli district, while it has brought cheer to wildlife enthusiasts, also points to the space crunch in wildlife habitats that is forcing the big cats to move out of the main area of Ranthambhore National Park on their own.Tigress T-92 was spotted with two cubs, both about three-and-a-half-month old, at Ninder Ki Khoh near Mandrayal last week. The tiger cubs have been born in Kailadevi after nearly three decades. The four-and-a-half-year-old T-92 and male T-72, also known as Sultan, with whom it mated, are among the four tigers who have moved from Ranthambhore to Kailadevi.Forest authorities said the overpopulation of tigers in Ranthambhore National Park has led to territorial disputes, because of which the big cats are making frequent movements to the adjacent Kailadevi wildlife reserve, which has a size of 676 sq. km. T-72 migrated from Sultanpur area of Ranthambhore to Mandrayal when it was threatened by another tiger. The area of new births comprises scrub forest having isolated water sources and is surrounded by villagers and livestock settled in isolated pockets. Located in the Vindhya hill zone, the wildlife reserve has a rocky terrain with slopes, ravines and cave-like depressions, all covered with scanty shrubs and bushes. The banyan and peepal trees offer huge shade and shelter to tigers.A Ranthambhore tigress has given litter outside the main national park area for the first time. Kailadevi’s area has been officially included in about 400 sq. km area of Sawai Madhopur district’s Ranthambhore to develop it as a national park with more than 1,000 sq. km area.Tourism and Wildlife Society of India honorary secretary Harsh Vardhan said here on Tuesday that the migration of tigers was a “clear indication” that Ranthambhore lacked the basic support system for being administered as a designated tiger reserve. The national park had insufficient forest staff, he said. However, the birth of tiger cubs in Kailadevi has proved that tigers can live along with villagers and their livestock in a habitat that did not offer much of the natural prey base of sambar, spotted deer, wild boar, etc., said Mr. Vardhan. “As Ranthambhore’s main area is unable to accommodate newborn cubs, tigers are exploring new places for their families,” he said.Earlier this month, Ranthambhore’s male tiger T-91 was relocated to the protected Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve in Kota district. The tiger was exploring new territories and living in the peripheral forests near Bundi for the last few months.last_img read more

17 days agoScotland coach Clarke raps fans barracking Liverpool fullback Robertson

first_imgAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say Scotland coach Clarke raps fans barracking Liverpool fullback Robertsonby Paul Vegas17 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveScotland coach Steve Clarke has hit back at the Tartan Army barracking Liverpool fullback Andrew Robertson. For the defeats against Russia and Belgium, Robertson received the brunt of the criticism levelled at the squad.”Listen, when you don’t win matches you are going to be crucified,” Clarke told The Scotsman.”Andy is experienced enough to realise that. He is the captain and the one who gets it. But it is unfair. It’s unfair to single out Andy Robertson and say that he should take the criticism.”Everyone should take the criticism. It’s a collective thing. I have spoken to Andy since, we had a good chat and he is fine.”Robertson is not the first Scottish Liverpool player to be questioned for his performances at international level. Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen were both subjected to the same treatment.”There is always going to be certain criticism – Alan Hansen wasn’t good enough to play for Scotland either,” Clarke bemoaned.”The best way to avoid the criticism is to get points, to win matches and draw matches you are expected to lose. That just makes everyone feel a little bit better.”It’s the same in club football. Winning covers a multitude of sins. If you start to win matches everyone will be on board and more positive about it. They will stop talking about the players who are not selected and instead speak about the ones who are.” last_img read more
